What Is a Pre-recorded Video Interview?

Modified on Wed, 10 Jul at 12:53 PM

Unlike a live interview, a pre-recorded video interview (also known as an on-demand interview) does not require interviewer(s) and interviewee(s) to meet at a pre-determined time. Instead, the candidate receives a link to record their interview answers at their own convenience from any web-connected device.

In a pre-recorded video interview, you start with an instruction page allowing you to test your equipment and try a practice question. Once you feel comfortable, you are then asked to answer the same questions as every other candidate in front of your webcam.

Some elements will vary per organization:

  • Number of questions
  • Preparation time
  • Recording time
  • Number of attempts

After you submit your recorded answers, the hiring team will watch the videos of all candidates and make a decision on how to proceed all applications.
