How Do I Clear My Browser Cache?

Modified on Thu, 11 Jul at 8:06 PM

When you use a browser to visit web pages, the browser saves some information about those pages in its cookies and cache. This allows for quicker access to sites when you return to them, but in the long run, a large amount of cache can cause slower browsing.

Old cache can also cause page loading issues when visiting the new version of a previously visited web page. That’s why it’s a good idea to regularly clear your browser cache and cookies.

Here are instructions for clearing your cache in the most common browsers:

Google Chrome

From your Chrome browser, select the 3-dot icon at the top-right of your window, then select Settings. In the next screen, choose Privacy and security, then select Delete browsing data

In the next window, under Basic, check Cached images and files, then select the time range for which you want to delete the cache. Finally, select Delete data.

After this is done, return to the application page where you encountered an issue and refresh your browser tab to reload the page.

Safari on iOS

In your Safari browser, choose Safari and select Preferences or Settings.

On the next screen, select Privacy, then select Manage Website Data.

Select the website(s) for which you want to delete the tracking data, then select Remove or Remove All. Finally, select Done.

After this is done, return to the application page where you encountered an issue and refresh your browser tab to reload the page.

Mozilla Firefox

From your Firefox browser, select the 3-bar icon at the top-right of your window, then select Settings. In the next screen, choose Privacy & Security, then select Manage Data next to Cookies and Site Data.

In the next window, check Temporary cached files and pages, then select the time frame (when) for which you want to delete the cache. Finally, select Clear.

After this is done, return to the application page where you encountered an issue and refresh your browser tab to reload the page.

Microsoft Edge

From your Edge browser, select the 3-dot icon at the top-right of your window, then select Settings. In the next screen, choose Privacy, search, and services, then select Choose what to clear next to Clear browsing data.

In the next window, check Cached images and files, then select the time range for which you want to delete the cache. Finally, select Clear now.

After this is done, return to the application page where you encountered an issue and refresh your browser tab to reload the page.
